The Physalis (Physalis peruviana) has excellent nutritional and healing properties. The Physalis or Alquejenje, is a fruit native to warm areas of South America. It was introduced into Europe from the discovery of America. Today it is cultivated mainly in South Africa, Colombia, Peru and Spain.
At physalis is considered an exotic fruit, is used to prepare ice cream, yogurt, glazes and chutneys. They are high in pectin, and make it ideal for jams and sauces. It can be eaten alone, desserts, juice and syrup.
